Get cozy: Travel items to ensure comfort
Comfort is key when you’re getting away for a playdate with the girls. These hardworking items don’t take up much space, but they will make the ride a lot more comfortable.
- Neck pillow
- Sleeping mask
- Lip balm
- Reading material
- Water bottle
- Journal and pen
Get techy: Devices you won’t want to leave behind
Of course you don’t want to spend your weekend huddled over a screen, but you’ll certainly want to play tunes, snap photos and do a little socializing. If you can, limit your tech devices to the following.
- Tablet computer
Get pretty: Must-have toiletries
Avoid the temptation to pack your entire bathroom just because you’re not checking bags. Choose your toiletries based on your destination. If you’ll be on a beach all weekend, you won’t need much. If you have plans of a more glamorous sort, go ahead and pack your favorite beauty supplies.
- Mini shampoo, conditioner and moisturizer
- Toothbrush, toothpaste and floss
- Tampons or pads
- Hand wipes
- Small first-aid kit
- Vitamins, pain relievers and medication
Get dressed: Look great, feel great
Of course, what you wear on your travels will depend on where you’re headed, the weather and your own personal style. Just make sure you remember these essentials.
- Scarf or shawl
- Cotton dress
- Bathing suit and flip-flops
- Jeans, shorts, and long-sleeve and short-sleeve shirts
- Bras, underwear and socks
- A few favorite pieces of jewelry

These hindi travel songs from Bollywood should definitely be a part of your playlist during that lovely journey:
- Khwabon Ke Parindey (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara)
It’s as if Zoya Aktar had decided to put forward travel as her mainstay. Infact most of her movies are based on travel one way or the other. The suave Hrithik Roshan exploring Spain while the backdrop just passing by would make every Indian to love travel!
- Yunhi chala chal raahi (Swades)
Philosophical moorings come in peppy notes this time! Travel, love, philosophy just blend together so well as SRK goes back to explore his roots!
- Suhana Safar Aur Ye Mausam Haseen (Madhumati)
Old remains gold forever! This hindi song that still features on the playlists of the roadtrips make us so much fall in love with old world charm. Dilip Kumar would have never imagined that Suhana safar would become the philosophy of the generations to come.
- Ham Jo Chalne Lage (Jab We Met)
Falling in love while travelling is what everyone dreams of. And this is what Hum Jo does to every Bollywood lover’s heart. The movie’s train, carts, bikes journeys unravel that incredible India where romance waits for you in every corner. This is an ideal hindi song for long drive!!
- Sapno Se Bhare Naina (Luck by Chance)
This one is my favourite! Although the song is more about the journey within the human soul, it goes very well for your journey outside as well. A must for those who are in love with soulful songs.
- Dil Chahta Hai (Dil Chahta Hai)
Who would not be aware of this song! Nothing has made the travel between Mumbai to Goa as gorgeous as the three Khans have done in this song.
- Main zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya (Hum Dono)
The song’s simplicity is its USP. The song explains the basic philosophy of life and directs towards a sense of fulfilment that is not dependant on the outer being. Devanaand, in his classic, effortless style adds to the unusual euphoria of the song.
- Ilahi (Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani)
Ranbir Kapoor and that too in his avid traveler form! I am sure all the girls would have fallen head in heels love with him as he travels the world and woos women! Deepika only comes at last!
- Musafir Hoon Yaaron (Parichay)
Apart from the lyrical beauty of this song, the melodious voice of Kishor Kumar makes it one of the soul-stirring songs to listen to, whether you are on a trip, or not.
- Ae Kabira (YJHD)
Even this generation has got its own share of soulful songs! Love in all its forms comes out at its best through this lovely song that makes you fall in love with the idea of love itself!
- Chhod Aaye Hum Wo Galiyaan (Maachis)
Jan tere peron ke ah too much of nostalgia. Pain, suffering and desire to go back come across so well through this mesmerizing song that keeps on shifting between joy and heartache.
- Patakha Guddi (Highway)
Wind in the hair, no destination in mind and an empty highway; Patakha Guddi is the perfect backdrop for any road trip where it is all about the journey. And as the protagonist of the song, Veera (Aliya) discovers her own self on the trip, I feel I do too!
- Zinda (Bhaag Milkha Baag)
This one is perfect for the early morning start, where you drag yourself out of the bed and hit the road. The song’s spirit is all about overcoming your own fears and making the most of being and feeling alive. Most suitable for those ‘stepping-out- of-the- comfort-zones’ kind-of vacations!
- Tanha Dil (Shaan)
Journeys that are taken alone and leave you with the lessons of life to learn! As it is Shaan has got that soulful voice and if it is combined with such deep lyrics, magic is bound to happen with one of my favorite bollywood travel songs!
- Hum Kis Gali Ja Rahe Hain (Atif Aslam)
Take on the road with a vengeance with Atif Aslam’s deep-throated voice to make your path seem suddenly so clear!
- Hairat (Anjana Anjani)
A peppy track from the movie “Anjaana Anjaani” is also a great track, which you can add on your travel playlist. This hindi travel song is all about spontaneity, that makes us pack our bags and go for a road trip to Las Vegas.
- Chhaiyan Chaiyaan (Dil se)
This song has definitely made our train and road trips more musical. Your feet will beat to the notes as you cover some of the most scenic train routes in India.
- Yeh Dil Deewana (Pardes)
Notes that jerk you out of your seat! Love to see Sharukh Khan in a confused state of love (well! he is always) as he drives down the road!
- Yeh Dooriyaan (Love Aaj Kal)
As claimed by the maker of this movie, this song depicts “the distance” as the subject and the music is definitely going to give you an Earworm, no not an insect, but the stuck song syndrome.
- Phir Se Ud Chala (Rockstar)
This song is the answer to the wanderlust as it takes you on a ride with each of its highs and lows just like a roller coaster and the lyrics describes the very state of being free as a bird.
- Ok Jaanu (Ok Jaanu!)
Fresh from Mr. Rahman’s oven, Ok Jaanu, the title track of the movie has a refreshing music and such a young vibe to it! The song is about disburdening ourselves from the pain and the fears of the past, much like what travel does to us!
- Roobaroo (Rang De Basanti)
The song opens with a guitar piece and continuous to build up the rhythm, throughout. Apart from A.R.Rahman’s music, what makes this song an all-time- favourite is the thought behind each of its words. The song resonates with my idea of travel, where familiar is good, but new is exciting!
- Hum dono do premi (Ajanabee)
The song is about two lovers, escaping and eloping their world, just to be with each other. The song is sung by legendary singers Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. It has the true essence of embarking on a journey and enjoying it, instead of rushing through it!
